DescriptionIf there has ever been an artist worthy of drawing The Mighty Thor in the 21st century, it’s watercolorist Esad Ribic (Loki, Mighty Thor, Secret Wars, Conan). My first piece from Lake Como Art Festival last weekend was this “full figure with some details” commission by Esad. He was his amazing self and I enjoyed talking to him throughout his switching between painting his pieces and smoke breaks. I very much appreciate how much of a genuine person he is - not putting up a show or anything. What you see is what you get. The piece was set up through his Facebook group, handled by Asad, an equally amazing, incredibly kind and knowledgeable person. Asad, it was so nice meeting you in person and I look forward to a drink at a slower show in the future! About the piece itself - I had a clear idea of what I wanted: a badass and battle-ready Thor spinning Mjolnir. I think Esad conveyed that idea quite perfectly. Particularly love his no-nonsense face, the colour blend in the background, and the shiny metal of his armour. Size is a bit bigger than 11x17. I was told by other collectors that this was one of Esad's, if not the, best of the weekend - and it’s hard to disagree. Social/Sharing |

Definitely! The yellowish-gray tint on the left in the background is the original colour of the page, so he used that very well to convey that motion of the hammer spinning & the lightning it causes.

Great commission - was fun watching him work on these pieces at the festival.
