DescriptionAfter having missed Olivier Coipel (Thor, House of M) at a couple of conventions like Paris Comic Con & some shop appearances, I was very happy to see him on the guest list for Lake Como Comic Art Festival 2022. Growing up on his "Thor" (which I had in the omnibus format), he has been & remained one of my favorite artists in the business, and I have been wanting to meet him for years. That's why I had reached out in 2021 for a commission to pick up at Como, but heard a couple of weeks before the show that he would only do very high-end pieces. Darn. Nevertheless, I wanted to try my luck at the show, and yes, he was doing some smaller pieces. But I was a bit late, yet still on the list (as he had arrived two hours after opening time and in the meanwhile, I went to some other tables & I was stuck in a different queue). I checked in multiple times over the two days, while Olivier told me multiple times he'd try to get mine done and to come back 1-2 hours later every time. Unfortunately, in the end, I didn't make it - yet my piece would have been done next. It happens. When saying goodbye for the final time - and being witness to a conversation between Olivier, Alan Davis & Arthur Adams -, Olivier wouldn't let me leave without at least a quick sketch. In the end, he drew this quick doodle for free & personalized it to my name. This might have been the first time I met him, but I'm convinced this won't be the last time. By the way, Olivier's one of the nicest (and fashionable) people in comics & talking to him is an absolute pleasure. Social/Sharing |

This is a really good one as this will create rapport and open the door in the future for more elaborate pieces from Coipel.

And even if it doesn't, I had a great time meeting a legend!
