Description

The "Acts of Vengeance" event pitted heroes against villains they didn't usually encounter, such as Hobgoblin's attack on the Sanctum Sanctorum of Stephen Strange. Also, Doctor Strange appears on a TV talk show with a woman who's written a scandalous book about him. Finally, Wong's fiancee Imei has come to America in anticipation of their wedding. This final page of the issue ties all these plots together.

I first encountered Jackson Guice with his impressive work on Micronauts. If I hadn't stopped reading comics in the mid 1980s I might have discovered that he got even better over just a few years. His delicate and expressive faces hearken back to master illustrators of earlier decades, looking even better in black and white.

The page is huge, 13.5"x20.25", with art filling 11"x16.5", if you count the little bit of the jack-o'lantern that extends below the border of the final panel.

Beautiful close ups of the lady! It looks like he's using a likeness here for the portait. A technique that would bring controversy down the line.

I love the way Guice does expressive faces and this page is a perfect example!
