Description

In this quirky sushi-centric version of the film Yojimbo, two rival gangs of gourmands attempt to recruit a wandering ronin chef to join their culinary squads. Page 35 shows two gangs of street toughs duking it out in front of the sushi parlor. Will the Vegetarians win? On page 98, Jiro exits the car of a crime lord who is plotting against him.

Somehow, this is untold kitchen confidential tales from Bourdain. Foss makes them look like mythical beings in an eternal conflict.

It's interesting to me how the "bones" of "Yojimbo" have been used as a creative springboard for different comic series (off the top of my head, this series, Corben's Luke Cage min-series, Bisley & Eastman's Fistful of Blood...). Bourdain & Foss bring their own unique experiences to build up the (sticking with the metaphor) "muscular structure" of Get Jiro to create a new experience for the reader.
