Description

Ah X-men 155, remember reading this one off the rack. Claremont had my young brain convinced he was going to be killing off members of the team and the cover on this one really set you on edge with Colossus (Peter) dead and bleeding, Storm crying. (see addl images)

Let's jump into page 14 with that backdrop...

Panel 1 - We're in a fight with Deathbird talking trash
Panel 2 - She takes her Energy Javelins out
Panel 3 - puts them together to create a huge energy blast towards Prof X -eeek!
Panel 4 - SKANG, Colossus leaps in front of the professor - Whunff!!
Panel 5 - KRAKOW! The ricochet hits a car with some bystanders running away and they are gonna call the cops.
Panel 6 - Cyclops and Prof X worry about that and ProfX gives Cyclops permission to open a can of whoop ass...

is this what killed Colossus? Is he dead? I don't want to spoil anything for you so going to leave you here True Believers...

3 updates and not one Mc-Spidey? Gues theres none to be had, thanks to you and a couple of others. A Cockrum would keep me happy. I might even shout skang or krackow! Isn't that in Poland?

Regarding your description, not one person who ever lived, died saying whunfff!! Death may be an occurance in comics but all it takes to get better is a rewrite. I did get slightly worried when he got overheated and sort of melted or fused into lots of metal debris.

Energy lines everywhere! You can tell the Deathbird costume is a Cockrum design right away! Colossus taking the bullet with all that nice shadow behind him for his segmented body is the X-Men action art that we were craving for more than once a month.

Straight up action packed page top to bottom! Classic Cockrum goodness. LOVE how the sound effect lettering is drawn right on the board with these older pieces. Congrats!
