Description"Hear Me, X-Men! No longer am I the woman you knew! I am fire! And life incarnate! Now and forever -- I am PHOENIX!!"I've been collecting since 94 and you THE hardest page to find over that period has been a Byrne X-men page. On top of that, anything from the Dark Phoenix Saga is even harder to find. Well, after waiting for 28yrs, I'm excited to finally welcome a UXM/Byrne/DP page into the McSpidey collection. PSA: If you have any X-Byrne art you are interested in trading or selling - DM me! The Setup --------- At this point in the DP series: o Wolverine has stripped some wires back in issue 132 (in alt images to remind you) o He's been attacked and they think he's dead (but as readers we know he's not - also alt image) o The Hellfire Club has won, it's pretty hopeless for our heroes! The Issue (134) --------- The title of this issue is: Heroes and Hellfire - the cover is awesome, it has the X-men on the left vs. the Hellfire club on the right with the Black Queen in the middle surrounded by a fiery phoenix image The Page: 3 -------- Panel 1 - the Hellfire club has won and Wynegarde toasts as Jean is somber. Panel 2 - we cut to outside - wow it's really raining, Storm's work?! Panels 3/4/5/6 - we zoom in to the sewers where we are reminded of the little surprise Wolverine left back in 132 Panel 7 - "And speaking of the shortest, feistiest x-man..." we hear a commotion, Shaw/Hellfire club and the X-men (Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler, Cyclops and Jean) turn towards the noise. Panel 8 - SKRASH - Wolverine crashes the party as only he can (with two flunkies holding on for dear life). Shaw completely loses his 'ish' as the kids would say. The page is in incredible condition being 42yrs old. Nostalgia --------- If you can remember the first time you watched Star Wars and it seemed helpless and then Han+Chewy came out of nowhere "You're all clear kid, let's blow this thing and go home". That's how I felt when I read this part of the story. Wolvie's here, we're going to be ok. Boy was I wrong, but it felt like you knew where it was going at this point, but like all great stories, there were many more twists and turns to go. Holding this page is surreal for me - the art is just incredible - Wyngarde's outfit, Black Queen, Shaw, the rain, Wolverine's big entrance. WOW! Stranger Things --------------- Bonus - the Duffer bros are from my neck of the woods and in many interviews have expressed a love for X-men/DP and up until season 4 they had subtle hints and call-backs. Then in s4 they introduced the straight up Hellfire Club. Some predict that 11's story will follow a similar arc. I guess we'll find out in season 5. Social/Sharing |

Ha, FWIW, I have ~100 McSpideys and 1, just 1 Byrne X-men page so going to stick with the "McSpidey Fan" theme!

My GOODNESS. A great shot of the inner circle. A wet Wolvie returning for rd 2 after being dunked in the sewers by Leland and thrashing future reaver members. Great addition Scot.

I'd kinda have to disagree. Not hard to find...if you have deep pockets. Is that where they hide? Lol. Nice page.

Do we really need the set up? If you still need to know, buy the book. Preferably buy the tpb with the Sienkiewicz cover.

A legendary page from a legendary run. It really does check a lot of boxes. Have always loved the Hellfire Club, and that bottom panel is just fantastic. Love the Duffer bros shoutout as well. Congrats on a piece of X-Men history!

The man sure knows how to make an entrance. Wow. And the look from Shaw the panel before is almost as good. Amazing page. Calling it classic doesn't do it justice!

Byrne really packed a lot of great detail in those tiny panels and it all pays off in that explosive final panel! And kudos to the letterer as well.
