DescriptionGreetings OA friends,Come back in time with me in the Nostalgia time-machine to January of 1982. UXM was intense, each issue packed a punch, and it all led up to the the Dark Phoenix saga which was epic and key characters dide! Then the X-men had to clean up the mess from that and fight the Hellfire club, etc. Then Claremont and Marvel dropped an unexpected treat in our laps - UXM 153: "Kitty's Fairy Tale". I have to admit, when this one landed at the LCS, I was like, ugh, some kind of lame dream sequence, girly stuff in the middle of my x-men storyline. Then when I read it 🤯. The treatment of the characters, Lockheed, BAMF, some kind of cheshire cat wolverine? wow. Claremont shines in creating new costumes and holy-cow, this whole issue is basically wicked cool one-off designs (Storm is especially cool) of our favorite super hero team. Plus the cherry on top - Dark Phoenix is back!! ***Back to 2023*** I've been watching for a page from this issue for a long long long time and as a guy that's chosen to focus on a pretty hard-to-find area (McSpidey), these pages are extremely hard to find. OA Karma came to the rescue and I was able to work out a trade with a friend (thanks Fisch!) to finally add a page from this issue to the McSpidey vault. On top of that, it's not just any page, it's an in the thick of it bonkers action page: o We've got Dark Phoenix in the top panel blasting Lockheed and the team - egads! o Panel 2 - they are ok, because 'Wizard Zavier' has thrown up a 'mystic shield' o Panels 3+4 - Storm and Xavier take it to Dark Phoenix o Panel 5 - Pirate Kitty and Colossus zoom in from the back of Lockheed Enjoy! If anyone reading this has a 153 page you'd be open to trade or sale - hit me up!! {{cover from the issue and page in alt images}} Social/Sharing |

Whatever is beyond baller, this is it. Helluva page my friend. I especially love the second panel with the blackbird as Lockheed, about a dozen issues before the real Lockheed shows up to save Kitty during the Brood arc. Congrats!

Lockheed- I know I kind of wonder if they liked the idea of Kitty and a dragon and kept it or if it was planned. Something to ask Claremont at the next con!

An offbeat and beloved one off issue done by Dave Cockrum who comes in at #3 as one of the top five X-Men artists of all time according to Comic Art Live Episode #73!!! It does show Cockrum's imagination, design sense, and storytelling like a storybook in this issue.

Classic stuff, McSpidey! That top panel - so dynamic. And my all team favorite look for Jean, whether green or Dark Phoenix deep red! Congrats!

Definitely a quirky issue for me. Cool to see Cockrum's Dark Phoenix. This version of Storm is amazing! Part Storm, part Blackbolt, part Hela, part White Queen (Naria). I want more!
