Description

I remember I first noticed Sale's work on the mini series "Wolverine & Gambit: Victims", when I was an avid reader/collector (mostly X-Men titles and Italian comics/graphic novels), but I wasn't collecting original art yet.
A short time later I started collecting original art, but for one reason or another I never had the opportunity to buy something by Tim.
Now that sadly he has passed away, it seemed only right to remedy by adding a piece by this modern master to my collection. And I've to thank again Francesco and Andrea at tavoleoriginali.net for this nice, almost stand-alone page!
Of course Billi 99 is an early work, but I think it already features many elements of the style that Sale would later brilliantly develop in his acclaimed works for DC and Marvel.

Excellent storytelling in an inimitable style. Instantly recognizable as the work of Tim Sale.

Shows a level of storytelling that would be a staple in his stories. This mastery of the duo tone creates the different tonal feel that would turn out to be the wash ink style he would use for much of his career.

Nice page! Reminds me a bit of Kyle Baker, but there are many clear Tim Sale touches. We've lost too many art heroes in recent times

what a tragic loss... Sale was an outstanding artist, a master storyteller and this page is a perfect example of that

Tim Sale was a true master of the comic art medium. I've always loved his work and will miss him. Seeing this amazing page from such an early work is a reminder of what we have lost.
