DescriptionKa-Zar is the very first Marvel Universe character to be created: the intelligent, loin-cloth-wearing jungle inhabitant, and initially another knock-off of Tarzan, had his very own Martin Goodman published pulp novel magazine in Oct 1936! His European-American name was then David Rand, and that name was used for an unrelated detective even earlier in a Goodman mystery pulp....................Ka-Zar's 1936 date therefore predates the first publications of Sub-Mariner (April 1939), the original android Human Torch (Oct 1939), and Captain America (December 1940)..............................The art board is appx 16 x 11", done 1971, published in Astonishing Tales #10, early 1972. A nice hidden treasure in the BWS bibliography. You can see the same impassioned work here in ths face and the straining body tenseness to resist against the cage!
