DescriptionI told myself the next Jim Lee piece I buy was going to be an X-Men page. I told myself I have to be more disciplined and stop filling portfolios with impulse buys. I told myself just focus on a small target of must haves every year. I told myself... uh, um... what was I saying? So anyway, I bought this Detective Comics cover. I would argue this is one of the strongest images of Batman Jim has ever made and this is a hill I am prepared to die on. I love the angle from the audience, I love the pose, I love the detailed crashing chandelier, I love this this take on Two Face, I love pretty much everything about this page. This is how I imagine Batman making an entrance. This page is perfect. Social/Sharing |

I don't know if that was meant as a RoboCop reference but I'll take it as one. I'm going to need at least two and a quarter ;)

Simply irresistable!
Thank you :) Yeah, I thought so too. It broke my resolve to be disciplined pretty quickly.... Then again, having more Jim Lee can never be a bad thing!

A typical Gotham night at the opera! You actually get a full effect of how powerful this cover art is when pulling back to look at a smaller picture and be part of the balcony audience.

A Gotham opera without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair ;)

X-Men Schmex-Men. This is a strong image of perhaps the most iconic character in comics by a living legend in the medium. Congratulations!

I'm embarrassed to say how long it took me to remember this reference. But I got there! Thank you, Timothy!

Fabulous Jim Lee/Scott Williams cover! Love the image of Batman dropping down from the rooftop skylight, scattering glass as he goes. I love how solid the Batman figure is compared to the detailed chandalier behind him. And I love the way the dark arch of the alcove frames the scene, with the silhouettes of people framing the bottom. Great pick-up!

Thank you, Bill! Much Appreciated! You basically just described my internal dialogue when I first saw it.

That's one perfect Lee Batman cover!!
Thank you! Jim is a beast. He's at the point of his career that he could just phone it in if he wanted to, but the man just keeps pumping out awesome images.
