DescriptionI CANNOT believe I won this!!!I backed Liam's Kickstarter for "Encore - Gold" to get a remark sketch, as I'm a sucker for Kickstarters with affordable original art. But secretly, I was also hopeful that I'd win this page. Now, normally I don't really expect to win anything. In most contests, the odds are just against you. This, however, wasn't a normal contest. Instead Liam made it more of a competition. The book would include a secret code and the first to crack it would win the page. I'm no expert, but I'm still pretty good at cracking codes. So I figured I might have a shot. Except... I'm all the way in Denmark. There was really no way I would get the book early enough that I'd be the first to crack it. But then I noticed that Liam would also be sending out PDFs of the book, so I might have a shot at it! It took a while until Liam sent out the PDFs (there's been a pandemic slowing down everything, in case you hadn't noticed ;) ), but when he did I rushed to check if anyone had cracked the code yet. No one had! So I started going through the pages, trying to find the code. It didn't take long until I spotted the first clue, which quickly turned out to be the first part of the code. Hurrying, I put the code together, sent it to Liam and then frantically refreshed my e-mail the rest of the day! When the e-mail ticked in, that I'd won, I laughed out loud out of pure happiness. I couldn't believe my luck! And to be honest, I still really can't. I'm super happy with this. Now onto the actual page! First of all, it's HUGE! 18" x 24"! When I first opened up the tube it came in, I actually wasn't stunned by how big it is. Then I figured out it's because I'm used to getting posters in tubes and not original art. When I compared it to other pages I own, it's almost twice as big! HUGE! It is also gorgeous. With the stunning alien vista in the background/first panel, full of all that Sharp detail we're expecting. Then there's the gorgeous lady in panel 3, Strong Woman, a somewhat prominent character in Morrison and Sharp's run. And finally, some great shots of Hal in panel 2 and 3, with some lovely acting by Sharp too. It's not the most flashy page, but everything that is there looks great. I am VERY happy to own this and every time I look at it, I can't believe I was fortunate enough to win it! Thanks Liam! (The additional image is my own picture of the page. It's taken with my phone, as the page is Much too big for my scanner.) Social/Sharing |
