Description

11x17" Blue Line artboard has pen and ink original art on 6-7/8x7.25" vellum panel applied to center. Art is by legendary Spider-Man artist John Romita Sr. and shows full body image the Silver Surfer seated on his cosmic surfboard with his back to viewer, playing a keyboard. This single panel of art was featured among nine others on back of the Lifesong "Spider-Man: Rock Reflections Of A Superhero" record release and �1976 Marvel Comics Group. Romita also provided the art for the album's front cover. Art has "The Silver Surfer On Keyboards" text block paste-over as well as small trademark symbol paste-over which has aged. Romita has boldly signed at lower right in black felt tip pen. Great art from a wonderfully weird 1970s Marvel item. See the Conan art from this lp also in my gallery. So cool with the classic mainstream commercialization of the Marvel characters in this era when a lot of us were first introduced to them through Marvel's outreach projects. You can see Romita uses hints of Kirby, Buscema, and Sinnott along with his own vision in this piece.

I have a feeling the Cosmic One would play some beautiful notes. Really flawless line work.We need Dr. Doom mashing away at the organ with his metal hands to make the band complete :-)
