DescriptionAs most of you know, Paul Smith X-Men art is hard to come by. When I saw this cover pop up on another collectors CAF last year, I started a dialogue to see what it would take to shake this cover loose. He did not easily part with it but after a ton of begging and selling a kidney to afford it, I managed to persuade the previous owner to sell it to me. I think the term ‘’grail” is over used but this is pretty close to it for me. Excited to add this to my collection.Social/Sharing |

It only took selling one kidney? Not bad.
I'm saving the other one for a Cockrum or Byrne cover.

We all know. Even Paul Smith knew that Cyclops as the leader has Xavier begging to die in this issue. Memorable finale to the Brood storyline and as always launches the team into different directions!

A counterpoint to the cover of #136. Scott always gets stuck toting the bodies.

Iconic example of Paul Smith's unique style--and would be a stunning piece of comic art even if it wasn't a classic image that we all remember.

Term grail only should be used in cases like this. Iconic and unique i would like to add. Colossal cover from this very elusive artist!!!

I know how hard it was for Paul Smith to part with this one. It's wonderful that you appreciate it. If there was ever the kind of piece that should be at the center of a permanent family collection it's this kind of piece.

Absolutley. A cover like this deserves to find its "forever home". Glad it landed with you. It's in great company.

Yes, the word GRAIL is over used. And apparently, so is the term "permanent collection." Haha! Anyway, congrats on managing to pry this away from him. There are only ten of these. And if you split that into two groups, there is a top half and a bottom half. We all know where this one belongs. Epic cover and epic acquisition. Congrats on both.

Huge congrats on this "grail". This is a pretty impressive cover and worthy of lots of praise now that you have in your collection. With that, huge congrats again!

So memorable and so perfect- if not a grail (yes, overused), certainly a top 10 piece.
