I remember trading for this issue with another kid at school. He didn�t tell me that he�d cut the marvel stamp out at the end but I still treasured this issue. I had never heard of Firelord before reading this one,but I knew enough that if he was a herald of Galactus, he had to be tough!

I have fond memories of this DPS, as X-Men 105 was the second issue of X-Men that I ever read back 1977. (The first was 104.) It was one of the comics in a Marvel Multi-Mags 3-pack. Like with you, this was my introduction to Firelord. I love the layout of the pages and the awesome Cockrum art.

I bought this comic off the back wall back in the 1980s - Firelord is such a well-designed herald - congrats on this killer DPS! The X-Men DPS vote is going to be fun to see this year...

Love the layout on this one! I really like the little insert at the top with Firelord closeup. Nice touch!

Beauty! This fight was Claremont's sneaky way of showing that Phoenix had cosmic-level power. The editors would not let her trade blows with Silver Surfer, but they okayed a battle with Firlord, who did fight the Surfer as an equal. By the transit property of combat, Phoenix was therefore the equal of Norrin Radd.
