DescriptionThis illustration is a Catoblepas and a Gulon done by Gervasio Gallardo for the Time Life series, "The Enchanted World." The Catoblepas is the warthoggish one and the Gulon is the one that looks like the cross between a cat and a fox. The Catoblepas is well known to most folks that play D&D (so ugly seeing it will kill you) but the Gulon is a bit different. The Gulon is a gorger so that when it feels threatened or just needs to empty itself out it runs between two trees to push the meat out through its body (and begins the gorging process anew). These fellows are from Book 8 (Magical Beasts). If anyone knows the whereabouts of the Peryton illustration I'd appreciate the heads up.Social/Sharing |
