DescriptionWooooo this is a good one… nostalgia home run , from one of the great X-men crossovers Mutant Massacre! This is actually the first of those Mutant events that became so important in the X-men heyday. It’s also by an artist I really like, and someone who is a tough get from his uncanny issues Rick Leonardi. And it’s a great one as it is the direct aftermath of the X-men getting massacred! Mohawk Storm in all her glory with her costume damaged and wounds unattended too … Magneto and Callisto trying frantically to attended to the mass of wounded and a badly injured nightcrawler on a respirator … to say these issues where traumatic to a ten year old is understating it… in my formative comic collecting I had never seen any of our heroes injured to this extent.. and Storm is going through that exact trauma on this page! Leonardi and Green do a magnificent job bringing to life the emotion of the moment that Claremont was going for. As an X-men fan from this time… this is the kind of page you crave! Big thank you to my friend A for letting me take this one!Social/Sharing |

There's no way we would have gotten the same pathos out of Cyclops as we see here from Storm. No one would buy his squareness as an outsider as this story required someone who would relate with the Morlocks and outcasts as we see here. The X-Men really took shape here to fight for mutant rights. Classic cover, classic storyline, classic Leonardi!

Awesome piece, full of great history, nostalgia and emotion. This is a home run for any deep X-Men fan, the era of the Mutant Masacre is one of the best, it's full of drama and sadness, which I just love.

Emotional and beautiful page, epithomizing why we all loved the X-Men. Leonardi's style is truly distinctive. Special mention for Green's inks, the constant unifier of the XM's look in the '80s

Some super storytelling from Leonardi, depecting this somber aftermath scene. Love those last 2 shots of Storm...emotive stuff. Big congrats on a prime example from a prime X event, man!
