DescriptionPaul Smith drew the first X-men comic I was given as a boy… so his version of the X-men is the one burned into my brain. So I can say he is one of my favorite artists . That being said… pages from his small X-men run are pretty tough to get your hands on. So when a friend of mine offered me this one.. I was happy to give it a new home! Light on X-men but a wonderful drawn example with a rare smith space scene, binary (my favorite version of Carol Danvers) in battle and a couple acanti!! Space Whales… Claremont must have been on it when he came up with those lol… also from a pretty key issue as it was a double sizer from the brood saga.. thanks A!Social/Sharing |

In space no one can hear you Brood! Interstellar X-Men adventures were a staple of Claremont's X-Men. It served to put mutants and humans in their proper context in relation to the wider Marvel Universe and tapped into the Alien/Star Wars fever during these years. Space Whales will be used in Star Wars Rebels, so it all comes around.

Pure vintage goodness, man! I'm digging the outer space storytelling top to bottom...and it's always cools to have that contrast of the black space backgrounds vs the goings on in the panels. Congrats on another add from your first X-Men artist!

Beautiful page, that's a banger dude! Love the space sequences and Binary looks freaking fantastic. Also don't knock space whales, Claremont must have been doing something right, so much so that Star Wars copied that concept many years later lol (Star Wars Rebels cartoon, Ahsoka TV show, etc.). Congrats on this gorgeous Paul Smith example!
