Description

A pure Hulk page by Keown at the end of his historic run when he was maturing into something more of his own, though never totally free of his Byrne/Wrightson influences.

Here we have a great action scene with the Pantheon guys against the evil U-Foes. I really liked Keown's interpretation of those vilains, making them very dangerous and evil looking.

Lots of pure Keown shots such as the first and last panels.

I remember seeing these pages at bowe & board when i bought my first keown in 1994. I think 397 is such an underrated issue in terms of Keown's art. Dale and Mark seemed to be pulling out all the stops on their last Hulk arc and it was such a shame that marvel pulled Dale off the book before issue 400. I really think if he was allowed to finish this story it would have been his crowning achievement with the character. Even though these were minor character pages I think they are some of the best examples of Keown's range as a storytelling and 'actor' while Mark farmer's inks on these U-foe's pages were just absolutely stunning. Congrats.
