DescriptionI first caught sight of this piece on David's Twitch stream when he started to ink it.It was one of a new series of TMNT covers he was doing, each with a different turtle. This was issue #1, Donatello in his workshop. I loved it. It reminded me of my own workbench and gear growing up. And it's soooo chock full of endless detail!! (You can read more about it here: https://davidpetersen.blogspot.com/2018/07/tmnt-macro-series-cover-donatello.html) I eyeballed the original art when it was listed for sale on David's site, admiring it in person at a couple of cons, but I could never pull the trigger. I'm not a big cover guy and mostly chase nostalgia. Sadly, one day that jerk Petersen HAD to have a 25% off sale and tempt me more than I could bear... So here we are:) Social/Sharing |

Beautiful cover! I agree, that is some insane detail. Nice to have those memories associated with the image as well.

Man such awesome detailing with that unique linework! I can see why you kept going back and ended up caving :) Donatello just doing what we do! Also like the nod to Mouse Guard in the lower right. Congrats on a rare cover get!

Congratulations on this! I know (and love) how a piece can work its way into your collection like that. Donatello is my guy, anything related to the "Greenest Machinist" I'm into! I like the private moment aspect of this scene, showing Don in one of his creative moments is an intimate look into his personality. I also personally approve of the artists more traditional depiction of the character, specifically moving away from the cheesy, nerdy, Michael Bay influenced look. Congrats!!!

I love this piece. Was delighted to come across it in the Best Of (got a vote from me!) and just came back to look at it again. It's definitely got that IT factor. Great pick up.
