DescriptionMy favorite piece of art from Leonardi/Williamson's amazing run on Spider-Man 2099, the opening splash of the series and Miguel O'Hara's very first appearance as Spidey 2099!This book threw you into the character and world right from the start, and this page got everything right. Gorgeous Spidey, futuristic city backgrounds, flying cars, titles, zipatone, Peter David writing, Williamson inks...about as cool and dynamic an example of comic art there is from that era. This was one of the earliest pieces of comic art I got, back in August 2000. I'd asked Jim Warden about Byrne art and the conversation turned to Rick Leonardi. Jim mentioned he'd gotten something new of Rick's and was willing to sell this DPS. I jumped at it! I was still new to the hobby and this was the most expensive purchase I'd made($375!), my first DPS, etc. It was years before I spent that kind of fortune again! It remains to this day one of my absolute favorites! PUBLISHING NOTE: This piece also appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 365 FUN COLORING: In 2017 colorist Nick Filardi did a fun recoloring video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7doKhYjRKw0 Social/Sharing |

Leonardi and Williamson were amazing on this book. Any work Al inked was better for it.

"Awesome" is simply not a big enough word to describe this artwork or the fact that you were able to get it!!

Just to tell you that when I saw this DPS I got a deep chill under my skin! You're right: this is 2099 world in two pages. Grail!

My absolute favorite Leonardi piece! Only a team as talented as Rick and Al could make such a acrobatic pose look as powerful and menacing as the one shown
