Absolutely stunning concept color drawing from the resurrection sequence of one of my favorite Disney movies, The Black Chauldron. The picture really doesn´t do this piece justice, it´s breathtaking...

The Black Cauldron Concept Drawing (Walt Disney, 1985). "Arise, my messengers of death! Our time has arrived!" The Horned King raises an army of the dead with the powers of the Black Cauldron in this amazing original concept drawing. Created for the moments seen at the 1:01:19 mark of The Black Cauldron, this spectacular image features dramatic color and a low-angle composition replicated in the climactic and notoriously grim final scenes of the film. Often considered a black sheep in the Disney animated feature canon for its dark themes and presentation, The Black Cauldron has garnered a substantial cult following of fans who see the film as an underrated masterpiece set apart from the usual whimsical faire of Disney movies. Rendered in mixed media on 11" x 11.75" sketch paper.
