I arrived with perfect timing at August NJ Comic Art Con, as Rich Donnely broke out the secret stash for everyone's favorite wheeler & dealer of X-men art, Jason D.

As he started going through the pages, my eyes lit up as I saw a Jim Mahfood GenX page reveal itself.

I didn't look at the condition. I didn't look at the content. I just asked how much and didn't like the price.

GOOD NEWS! I brought some trade bait with me, which Rich liked, and we quickly worked out a deal.

I left with a super fun, 1 page story featuring Jubilee & Skin making pancakes for the entire team, which turns out to be Jim Mahfood's first work for Marvel, leading to the Generation X Underground Special.

You're a master baller! Learning from UJD, you know how to dangle some young mutant meat and work your Magik. A big get for any Mahfood fan with a inclination for X-Men. His underground style works best with the outsider aspect of the younger and weirder generation of mutants.

Wait. Wait. Wait.

You didn't like the price of something for sale by the Donnelly's? That's unheard of. :)

Really good decision to pick this up though. Jim's work was just so ....opposite of what was in mainstream comics at the time. Non-standard layout and character renditions have me reminiscing of those times.
