DescriptionAs DWJ said on a recent YT video, it's hard to get Calvin and Hobbes right since you have to keep that Watterson look to them, otherwise they don't look "correct." I think Dan did a great job here keeping the look and style of these characters but also throwing in a lot of great detail. Look at the work done on that tree! Very Vess like. And yes, this is a 6x9 commission. So if anyone is/was waffling on getting even a smalls by DWJ, you really shouldn't! I admit that I'm biased, however. Social/Sharing |

I like the zip! It's a tribute to strip art itself as well as C&H!

These two guys were everything to me when I was a kid after my cousin got me into reading the "Sunday Funnies" in the local paper. Dan did them justice, congrats.

Awesome commission that looks like the comic strip yet still has elements of DWJ's personal style. Congrats!

As anyone in their right mind would expect, DWJ did the piece justice. He could have gone for mayhem and that would have been perfect too - you'll just have to get a second piece to book-end it so we can see how it would have played out! And then a third piece...and forth. You see how it starts....

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of detail DWJ can pack into a smaller piece. And this one is just super cool! Even has a bit of a vintage feel to it. Great pickup!

Wonderful homage to the much-missed Calvin and Hobbes! Daniel Warren Johnson's drawing really brings back memories of my favorite comic strip ever. Sigh.
