Description

Ngozi Ukazu, a NY Times best selling cartoonist with Check, Please, joined DC Comics with her new story, Barda!

Barda is based on the character Big Barda from Jack Kirby's Fourth World saga created for DC in the 1970s.

I should mention at this point that Ngozi is a serious Jack Kirby Fan as you can read here and hear here.

I met her at Bedrock Comic Con in 2024 and found her to be delightful and friendly. It turned out that we went to the same Jr. High (me) / Middle School (her) - T. H. Rogers in Houston. Small world.

Very cool addition to the sketchbook! Very strong influences from manga and Kirby in the mix!
