DescriptionThe entire Fantastic Four being well, fantastic. Each member is perfectly captured doing what they are famous for: Reed the genius stretching and working on some fabulous creation, The Thing demonstrating his strength as the foundation (I almost wrote "rock" but that is too obvious.) of the team; Johnny showing off and helpfully lighting Ben's cigar and finally, Sue showing she is really the most powerful member of the team by holding up both Ben and Reed. Such an amazing piece that I have always loved by the late great George PerezSocial/Sharing |

Not only is this a great representation of the team using their individual powers, but it's also a wonderful depiction of what made them who they were, a FAMILY!

So true! That family feel always set the FF apart from all other teams. They really were and acted like a family, teasing each other, supporting each other, fighting and always caring.

It's from classic Lee/Kirby family scenes where the Thing is helping Reed out with new lab equipment. Most of the time, it's Reed secretly trying to find a cure for Ben. Torch playing the prankster on Ben with a fireball and Sue's clearing the spot below for the foundation. It exhibits their team and family dynamic so well. This is George Perez still at the height of his powers!

Wow! This is the perfect George Perez Fantastic Four splash! As you pointed out, each member of the team is drawn doing what they do best. All I can add is that this entire splash is George Perez doing what he does best--Drawing a scene packed with more detail than anyone else could imagine. Check out the crazy machine that Reed is working on--It's got more switches and doodads than seems possible. Look at all the cable and wires leading to God-knows-what. Even the extra machine that Reed's hand is manipulating is detailed way more than necessary! But that's what George Perez does--He piles detail upon detail. And this splash is packed with them. Outstanding splash from one of the masters of the comic medium. Serious congrats,

Definitely one of my favorite Perez FF pieces, from a time when George was fully confident in his inking skills and squeezed details into everywhere he could. George was truly a master storyteller - even without any dialog this image conveys so, so much.
Huge congrats on this amazing pick-up!
