Description

Vintage Punisher by Mike Zeck. Always been a fan of Mike Zeck. I loved the Punisher mini-series, who didn't, and the subsequent graphic novels that followed. This is an early 1980's Punisher. Unlike the Captain America Zeck piece I have, I've wanted a Punisher from Zeck but never came across the right one, until this one. It has the look and feel of the early Punisher from the mini-series. Glad to have found it and now own it.

Confirmed to be an early Zeck piece by Mike himself via email. "Appears to be inked with a Japanese brush marker that I carried to shows. Except for the sig which was done with a different pen that faded over the years. The sig dates it too. Early 80s sounds right."

This is a really nice one from a great time period. I love the brush work on the hands and hair, especially.

I used to own this piece. Based on the style of the signaure, I believe it was done around 1985, possibly 1984, right before the Punisher Limited Series. The gun is also "futuristic" looking which is something Mike only drew prior to the Limited Series. There are only about 5-6 Punisher drawings that I've run across pre-Limited Series. Congrats on getting one!

When it comes to comic OA, hard to top Zeck IMO, and even harder to top when he's the Punisher! Great example! Congrats!
