DescriptionVideo of Jim Lee drawing this... https://youtu.be/YE807UuRQhsMy wife and I had an agreement. Whoever decided our daughter's first name would have to allow the other person to choose whatever middle name they wanted without any vetoes. When it came time to put my baby girl's name on the birth certificate, my wife decided to go against the first name I had chosen because apparently, "she didn't look like a Jasmine." Well, I guess that means I get to pick the middle name. What would you do in this situation? The decision was pretty easy for me. I mean, I've always loved female characters who are well versed in martial arts and wear blue. Psylocke, Chun-Li, and Kitana are the perfect trifecta. I flirted with the names Elizabeth, Betsy, Kwannon, and Psylocke, but none of them possessed both the strong and cool vibe that I was going for. What about Kitana?? Yes!! That had just the perfect ring to it. My wife hated it, and perhaps that made the decision even easier for me since she robbed me of choosing the first name. Fast forward 15 years to me spectating a Jim Lee Twitch stream. Jim had just wrapped up a drawing and looked to the chat for a character suggestion. For the heck of it, I typed in "Kitana." Lo and behold, he saw my suggestion and began to give it a go. After the stream wrapped up, I told my daughter the exciting news, and without even seeing it, she said, "we have to get it!" Well, long story short... sacrifices had to be made to be able to pick this up, but in the end, it was all worth it. I'm so thrilled to be able to add her alongside the other blue kunoichi assassins all done by my favorite artist. My collection finally feels komplete! Psylocke for me, Chun-Li to represent my wife, and Kitana for my little one. Social/Sharing |

OMG!!! We like so many of the same things. This is a great story to go along with it. Sounds like it was destined to "come over here" to you. Congrats, it's a beauty, it's an assassin, it's a JIM LEE!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You have amazing taste, sir. There's quite a few pieces in your collection that I'd love to own.

Huge congrats Victor...love the backstory.
Thanks a lot, John! The backstory about the name origin is only the half of it. The journey to obtain this was a trip. I didn't think I'd be able to pull it off... but somehow I found a way.

The story made it fate! Jim Lee more than just gave it a go on this one! Half a hour just to get the figure and even more to add all the surrounding elements!

Yessir! Jim went the extra mile on this one. He spent three different stream sessions making sure all of the details were just right.

Thanks a lot, KG! It's nice to know when other people understand where you're coming from. It's so nerdy to name your kid after something from pop culture but then to seek out art based on that character to frame and have on display... that's an extra level of geekdom right there. You either get it or you don't.

Awesome story, and even cooler that your daughter really leaned into it and got excited about picking up the art. Congrats on completing the Jim Lee trifecta!

Thanks, Kin! Yeah, I wanted it from the moment I saw Jim begin to work on it, but my wallet was like "HELL NO!!" My daughter either sensed how I felt or she sincerely wanted it... either way... her excitement gave me the extra push I needed to scoop it up. It's going to take a while to recover financially, however I think it's well worth it in the end.
