Description

Is this a cover? Sort of. It's a color reproduction of a Kevin Nowlan painting of Lenore (the character on the cover, not the dead, little girl!). The wisps of hair are white paint and her glasses are transparent, pink, zipatone.

Normally this would not be something I'd collect, but this comic has a special place in my heart. When I was 11, my father brought home a box of comics that he had picked up somewhere. Finally, something other than Archie, Disney, and the Teen Titans Drug Abuse Special! Or at least that's what I thought. Turns out it was all number 2 or 3 issues, not a single first issue! WTF? One by one I'd "read" them which was a lot of me thinking about how most of them made no sense or seemed stupid with out the set-up of the first issue. Of course in this box was every Shadowline Saga launch title, but only issues 2 and 3 of each. So Doctor Zero, Power Line, and St. George. Yup, these made no sense with out issue 1. Now as an adult I've read them again and they at least make sense. The stories were so-so, but the covers... Young me had no appreciation of how great those covers were at the time. A year later I would be enamored by Jim Lee on X-Men so that tells you where I was at. Of course I still love Jim Lee X-Men but I also want to own Sienkiewicz art too now.
