Description

I try to keep good records of my acquisitions, but occasionally I get art in the mail and can't remember why. Some internet research jogged my memory: On Facebook, another artist (Gene Ha?) had promoted Stafford's crowdfunding project for his art book "Salmonella Smorgasbord," and I decided to give it a go. Seven months later, this fun little (11.5"x8.25") drawing arrived in my mailbox. I'm glad Stafford remembered, since I had forgotten!

Amusing sketch by Mark Stafford. The skeleton in the astronaut suit is like something you'd expect to see on a 1950's EC Weird Science comic. It's nicely rendered here and provides an unusual glimpse at Stafford's prodigious talent. Congrats on a pick-up you didn't even know you'd picked-up!

Awesome and macabre piece! Blends horror and sci-fi in the great old school comics tradition. It brings up questions of how this happened and what desperation must the astronaut have felt as the tether got loose and oxygen ran out.
