Description

I learned about Carlos Dearmas through Bill Cox and Chris Snorek's top picks for the Comic Art Fans Weekly Update. In episode #250 Bill selected a Savage Land Rogue by Dearmas in Eranga Devasurendra's gallery as one of his top ten picks of the week. As he and Chris discussed the piece on the show he found other examples of Dearmas' work in CAF to include this striking commission that fortunately was available.

Besides Wesley Dodds Sandman being among my favorite characters, Dearmas' line work is wonderful, conveying a nice sense of movement. His depiction of the human form and dress is engaging and realistic; his style reminds me of black-and-white book and magazine illustrations from the 1800s and early 1900s.

The art is 8.25x12.

Very nice Dearmas with the pulp era look of old school illustration! His style works for many of the heroes that have roots from that time period.

Dearmas is doing some incredible work and he is an awesome choice for the Wesley Dodds golden age era Sandman, great illustration!
