DescriptionI'm posting this because I just discovered that Al has made an exact replica of this painting he sold me in 2018, and is selling it on ebay through isabelleartcollection. The new painting is identical in every way, other than it's slightly smaller than the one I have. And I noticed other pieces that appear to be identical to his previous works. I find this distasteful. When one purchases a piece of original art, you expect it to be unique. That is no longer the case if an exact replica is out there. I certainly would not have purchased this piece if I knew others were floating around. Obviously, Al has the right to paint whatever he likes. But I find this to be a questionable practice and I don't intend to purchase any more of his originals, since I'm no longer confident it won't be reproduced or is already a reproduction. Of course, None of this is mentioned in the description for the new work offered. I think, at the very least, it should be made clear that the work is a replica. Otherwise, not only is this practice questionable, but it's also dishonest. Just wanted people to be aware of this.Social/Sharing |

Sorry to hear about that, it sounds pretty bad. We had a terrible experience with that particilar dealer ourselves...I've never contacted PayPal to reverse a transaction before, but made anwxceopton for them. They heard the story and immediately gave us the refund...
The whole ordeal (as well as a few other recent disasters) has practically turned us off collecting art...
it's a shame, because you have a cool of great Al Columbia pieces which have probably been soured for you...

Thank you for the comments. It was very disappointing. I had issues with Al before this. I used to buy works directly from him and spent a lot of money. The pieces I've listed here are the tip of the iceberg. I have numerious other pieces that I purchased from him, spending a ton of money. He always too a long while to deliver the pieces. But the last time, it kept my money for over a year and a half and kept delaying the delivery of the painting. After all that time, he reneged on the deal and told me he's changed his mind about selling the piece. And even after that, it took another few months for him to refund the funds he held for over 18 months. But I still purchased his work from others, because I loved his work so much. This was the final straw. He's just not a good person. Everyone who has ever dealth with him has fallen out with thim. I don't know the dealer, but she claimed she was unaware this was a replica. But even after I made her aware, she didn't take down the piece or mention anything in the listing. So as far as I'm concerned, she was complicit. I'm sorry you had issues with her. I'm glad you got a refund. Comic art collecting can be so rewarding, both financially and as a hobby. Don't let some bad eggs ruin it for you. I hope you continue to enjoy this hobby.
