DescriptionSuch an amazing achievement by Frank Miller. Mature noir stories, engaging characters and an art style that felt to me at the time as something completely unexpected. When I see certain b&w pieces from Sin City (such as this one) they often remind me of sculpting. Just like the great masters of the Renaissance (not comparing) would "see" a statue in a block of marble, the artist would "see" the character in a blank page. While the sculptor disposes of the excess marble to reveal the statue within, the penciller would darken everything that is not the character to finally reveal the character within. Always thought this to be quite fascinating.Social/Sharing |

Great piece of graphic design. The lone figure stands out against the stark conformity of the environment!

All this piece needs is Salma Hayek and a snake and it would have it all.

It is amazing how Miller organized his pages. Would anyone else have composed blacks this way? A truly magnificent work of art. Congrats!
