Description

Frank Bolle: Dream Book of Romance #8, page 24 (Magazine Enterprises 1954).
Large size art. Story title: "Unfaithful". Signed FWB to the left.

Synopsis: Helen and her friend Joan spend their vacation on a dude ranch. Helen falls in love with Rod, but when they return to the city, she spots him kissing another woman. Rod explains he was breaking up with her because he loves Helen, but she�s unsure. Helen asks Joan to make a play for Rod to see if he can be faithful. When she sees Rod kissing Joan, Helen is convinced Rod is a rat. However, it was actually Joan and her real boyfriend, not Rod. Helen and Rod reconcile.

Frank Bolle (June 23, 1924 � May 12, 2020) was an American comic-strip artist, comic book artist and illustrator, best known as the longtime artist of the newspaper strips Winnie Winkle and The Heart of Juliet Jones; for stints on the comic books Tim Holt and Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom; and as an illustrator for the Boy Scouts of America magazine Boys' Life for 18 years. With an unknown writer, he co-created the masked, Old West comic-book heroine the Black Phantom. Bolle sometimes used the pen name FWB.

Congrats on a great page, Lars! I don't think I've seen Frank Bolle art from this era... it's so bold!

Oh? There's actually a Frank Bolle panel page as well from an earlier issue of Dream Book of Romance in this gallery. Quite different actually.
