Description

I love commissions. A chance to have an artist draw a favourite subject is always a treat. Occasionally, something really special comes along. For me, this commission of Galactus and Silver Surfer by Matias Bergara is one of those occasions.

The composition. Galactus is pointing to something out of frame. Is he about to consume a planet? Surfer is in motion, looking straightahead but Galactus has his eyes on Surfer. Why? What is Galactus thinking?

The colour. The light reflecting off the brilliant purples and pinks of Galactus's armour. The red rust glow around Galactus blending into the dark cosmic background. The white halo around Surfer that overwhelms the background.

It's a simply stunning piece of art.

With this composition, it makes Galactus look even more human than the more isolated and haunted figure of the Surfer.

Man, love the unique stylization, especially in that helment...and the way that the Surfer stands out vs the blank background. And the colors! Outstanding piece all around, CD, congrats!

This is perfection, and the FF movie release should bring a set of fresh eyes to appreciate it. Gorgeous work from Bergara.
