DescriptionThis was totally a case of paying tomorrow's price today, but I think it's more like paying next years' price today. What I really liked about this page is that I get the impression that Willingham didn't know where he was going with the story yet. Later in the series Shapshifter reveals to Morningstar that she's probably the oldest living thing on the planet so it seems very unlikely that she would drown from Fathom's blast. That and it's just an awesome action page in general. I don't think there's any controversy with the page. It's great battle page and if you paid more for it than anyone else, that means you deserve to have it. The fact that they would talk about it means there is a passion to acquire these pages when they are out there.

Or it just means I'm the fool who paid way more then it's worth. I don't think I would feel as bad if the seller didn't play around with the price or dangle a B.S. make offer. If he was hoping for an absolutely insane offer, then he should have put a Buy It Now.

Fantastic piece! Sorry I bid you up a bit but I was definitely in the hunt for this one. I think the final price was suprising but reflects how few of these truly gorgeous Willingham Elementals pages have hit the market in the last five years.
Congrats on adding it to your collection. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Christopher, no big deal. I used to place throwaway bids on pieces I was watching but realized I wasn't going to win. Just to drive the price up. Then I realized that it's just going to mean that the next similar piece will be priced higher now that we've moved the floor price up. So now I try to not bid on things until nearly the end.

Yeah, Willingham has said that he didnt really have a story for the Elementals early on. At any rate, an amazing series- and the series definitely seems to have a rabid group of collectors after its pages.
