Description

Great page from Shazam Comics (Vol. 1) #35 (last issue) from 1978, page 10 by Don Newton and Kurt Schaffenberger. Don's favorite character of all time was Captain Marvel (he even had a professionally made Capt. Marvel costume that he wore to Cons well before cosplay was even a thing to do) so it was a dream come true when he was asked to draw the character for DC. Don's pencils are terrific and really bring the character to life, and Schaffenberger was a great choice to ink his pencils.

Beautiful layouts and figure work with this artist combo! Schaffenberger using zip a tone? Maybe Newton asked for it or he did it himself after inks were applied.
