DescriptionClassic late 50's - early 60's DC sci-fi cover -- Mystery In Space #73 featuring Adam Strange! This is one of my all-time favorite Adam Strange covers because it has it all... Adam Strange (drawn full-figure) with his futuristic weapon ready to fire, the classic alien city with all of the futuristic buildings that this pair of artists are so famous for, and one of the coolest aliens ever -- an invisible raider. I think the layout is what makes this cover somewhat unique -- it's in the perspective that was used to depict the action. The alien is in the foreground, not Adam Strange, and Adam Strange is approaching up a long path with the city looming in the background. The cool alien is the focal point of the cover, and it was a great choice to go with this layout instead of having the characters' positions reversed. It is signed by Anderson, but I never had a chance to have Infantino sign it, and that is my biggest regret. I'm sorry that the image isn't as clear as I would have liked it to be, but it is already framed, and no matter what I tried, there was nothing that I could do to get rid of at least some type of glare from the reflections in the glass. I have also added a second image so that you can see how I had this piece framed. It is included with a copy of the comic too. I'm lucky to have this at all because during the early 60's, DC actually gave away entire comics-worth of original art to fans who wrote in letters that the editor liked. Usually no one got the entire issue, but the cover and individual chapters were just given away freely. This was true with both Mystery In Space issues as well as The Flash comics. I know that some of those pieces have surfaced over the years, but I can only imagine what happened to most of it... right in the trash after the "fan" eventually decided that they liked a new character better, and the artwork was no longer important. Luckily at least this piece is one that survived, and I consider myself very lucky to own it. It is one of my favorite pieces in my collection! Enjoy! Social/Sharing |

One of my favorite characters illustrated so beautifully by Infantino and Anderson. This team really shined on Adam Strange. What a beauty. I wish a Zeta beam would transport this to my house temporarily. Congrats! You have an awesome collection.

Wow, this is first rate!
Love MIS and Adam Strange - Infantino in his prime, inked by Anderson in his prime. What's not to like?
