This is such a great piece!!!! It has it all... Superman in 3 out of 4 panel, there is a close-up shot of Superman and one drawn full-figure, he performs a super-feat and saves the day, and if you read the text, it is almost like a "mini" chapter all to itself... and it is SIGNED!

I met Joe when I was living in L.A. in the mid-80's and he told me that this piece originally belonged to his brother, and when his brother died, he got it back and then sold it. He was somewhat surprised to see it again, and I explained that I had purchased it from a dealer at a San Diego Con just a year before. It was a real shame that he couldn't draw any longer as his eyesight was almost gone, but he did make certain that the piece was signed. Unfortunately, I only had the privilege of visiting with him just that one time, but that is a meeting that I will never forget. It has been said that it isn't always good to meet your heroes as they can sometimes disappoint you, but I can assure you that this wasn't one of those times. He was very kind, very humble and a true artist.

Right out of the TV show with Superman saving the day to avert a train disaster! Great specimen of classic Superman art!

This is such an historical treat and great example of the Superman strip. The story is just as priceless for both Superman pieces. Up, up and away spectacular!
