Description

A commission based on the manga series "Dororo" by Osamu Tezuka, which I admittedly was not familiar with prior to purchasing this piece (I've since had the chance to read the work and thoroughly enjoyed it). The image features the main protagonist, Hyakkimaru, battling the fox demon, Kyubi, as Dororo looks on.

I recall initially having seen and been struck by this illustration at the Inky Knuckles booth at Heroes Con a couple of years back, however, as a commissioned piece, it was already spoken for at the time. When it came up for sale recently, I instantly recognized it and was happy to give it a new home. The amount of crosshatching here is bonkers!

Great tribute to a manga classic! I love the style and reverence for the source material. A really outstanding piece. I'll have to look for more of his work now.

Insane crosshatching which is perfectly suited to the Manga (strangely, as Tezuka offers quite the open line).

It looks like treasured folklore at this point given this lavish illustration treatment. Just wonderously puts one in awe.
