Description

Ron Garney did one of my first con sketches, albeit a quick sketch in the cover of a trade paperback collecting some of his Cap stories. I got the chance to meet him again in 2022 at Terrificon and Baltimore Con, buying a couple of A+X #1 pencil pages of Cap, Bucky, and Cable from him (also in my WWII gallery). However, I didn't get a sketch from him, partly because I was a bit intimidated. He's a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and he might go all Bruce Lee and kick my sorry butt...ok, I'm just kidding. Ron is a super nice guy, super cool, and not at all pretentious, despite what you may think from someone who worked with Keanu Reeves on the BRZRKR comic bestseller. I also admire that he continues to grow as an artist, developing a new style that was interesting and appealing and eschews digital techniques. I was thus excited when Heroes Con announced him as a guest, and very happy when he agreed to do the WWII sketch. The end result is spectacular and far more than I was expecting!

Amazing piece showing Garney's evolved artistry since his Cap runs. The markers for the tonal work is very effective to bring this war time image to life.
