DescriptionI can't say enough about Joao's commissions. The two he's done for me so far have been two of the best commissions I've ever gotten. When it comes to ability with watercolors and attention to quality, he's in a league of his own. Luckily, I'm already on Joao's list for a third commission. Thanks Kirk. And Ralf absolutely nailed it with the trade dress. Social/Sharing |

I love Mike Zeck. He's on my personal Mt. Rushmore of comic artists. But I have to say Joao's version is superior in every way. Joao's version looks like something we should all be buying from comic stores right now.

It's at the top of many Zeck collectors' lists for his career best and/or most memorable. Joao and Ralf bring that same excitment to with the 80's DC that most likely would have been a Jose Luis Garcia Lopez work if done back then.

The two covers I always think about the most in regards to the original are what DC would have done (which Joao has done better here than I ever could have imagined) and what if Zeck did a version B of the cover with the exact same composition but with the serie's villains instead of heroes.

Crisis on Infinite Earths #9 and Secret Wars #6 were the villain versions!

Secret Wars #6 has a similar idea but I mean the exact same composition and poses.
