DescriptionAs you can tell from my gallery, commissioning Scott to draw his renditions of Captain America scenes has become one of my favorite things to do in the hobby. It’s always a thrill to see how he brings these scenes I love to life as a sequential page.I usually offer the artist free reign to choose whatever scene speaks to them. However, having just drawn two for me not that long ago, Scott didn’t have a particular scene he was looking to tackle. I’ve always appreciated the connective tissue Marvel weaved into their cinematic universe; especially the payoffs to moments or lines of dialogue from earlier films. So, I suggested pairing the iconic scene of Cap calling Mjolnir with this one, which is one of my personal favorite scenes from Age of Ultron. When I saw the in-process shots on Instagram, it looked like he was harkening back to a more traditional comic book look with the characters, which was most noticeable in Black Widow’s retro hairstyle. He later confirmed that on his new Patreon account, where he had this to say about his approach: I really enjoy doing these as a change of pace. It’s fun to mix the context from the movies with the characters’ original comic book looks (which, after all, were designed for the page). Particularly pleased with the way the facial expressions turned out, especially Thor’s (a character I don’t think I’d ever drawn before, btw). I have to agree with him, especially about Thor. Love that raised eyebrow in the closing shot. I also love the “wiggle” text on the page, which can only work in the unique medium of comic art. Be sure to check out my gallery for the companion piece to this one, as well as others Scott has done for me over the years. And stay tuned for more in the near future, as I have a bunch in the pipeline. Social/Sharing |

The commissions continue! Loved the party scene in Age of Ultron, and this is a great sequential take on it. Also a smart choice pairing it with the payoff moment from Endgame. Congrats, and look forward to seeing what you have planned next!

They are called "action" films for a reason but it is the quieter, personal moments of the movies such as this one that number amongs my favorites.
