DescriptionThe decade plus of films that made up the Infinity Saga was filled with countless moments of wonder and excitement. However, if you polled fanboys and girls far and wide, I’d wager this is THE most memorable moment for most.Turning this into a comic page, however, proved a bit tricky for Scott, who said “It took some time to make the arc of the hammer swoop cleanly through three panels… but it was worth the effort. It’s the kind of the composition that can really only be done in comics.” He’s absolutely right about the way this composition works on the page, and I think the time he spent on the layout really pays off here. The swoop of the hammer beautifully connects panels one to two while also leading us right to the payoff moment in panel three, which rightfully is the large, splashy panel on the page. Cap’s strength and determination really come through here thanks to the perspective of his body matching the angle of the hammer. I’ll admit, I was initially taken aback when I saw Thanos in his comic outfit. Growing up a DC kid, I don’t have an attachment to him outside of the films. And since most of my previous commissions from Scott showed Steve out of costume, I wasn’t expecting him to take that approach. However, Scott called this his “Chantlerverse” Thanos, and the more it sat with me, the more I liked it this way. He’s bringing these moments to life on the comic page, so having them appear in their classic comic outfits is a fun twist. As a result, I’m more than happy for my upcoming commissions with Scott to take place in the “SCU” (Scott Chantler Universe) instead of the MCU. Be sure to check out my gallery for the companion piece to this one, as well as others Scott has done for me over the years. And stay tuned for more in the near future, as I have a bunch in the pipeline. Social/Sharing |

The moment when the theater exploded. It might be the last time ever we get that universally shared experience.
