A shocking image for the times! They had some semblance of understanding science and gravity that the moon could cause global disaster if it was in a closer orbit. Frank R Paul illustrating the craters and pock marks on the moon like a full map hadn't been so well imagined before and maybe never again like in this visonary painting.

Stephen, when I was about 16 I picked this issue up at a garage sale (fairly beat up) and, protected in a plastic bag, of course, hung it on the wall as a highlight of my very first "Ackermansion." I loved it. Fifty years on, it still affects me the same way.
