DescriptionOne of the coolest comics to come out of the black and white boom of the 1980s. Been after a classic cover for some time.While this one is not that early - it still has the round head feel of the early Yojimbo art. Stan Sakai is a super talented artist - and despite the cute animal look - this series is not a silly kids comic. As a Groo collector I was first introduced to Sakai as the letterer on Groo and soon the Usagi Yojimbo Summer Special that had an appearance by Groo in it. After that it was hard to stop collectng new issues of Usagi. Social/Sharing |

Although I never read a word of Usagi, I always enjoyed the art and look of the character. Great looking cover!

Don't know anything about this title or artist, but I really dig the artistic style, and I'm glad you could land one of your wish list covers.

GOOD HEAVENS! Being a big Usagi fan myself, I am stunned by this beauty! A cover from 'Grasscutter'? Featuring Inazuma, Gen, and Usagi? Mercy me, I feel like I need to sit down (even though I just realized I am already... :) ). Without question, a beautiful classic - what an incredible find! Sincere congratulations Do treasure this!

Stan’s Yojimbo work is fondly remembered by many with good reason. Great movie poster feel to this! Congrats!

Revisiting this one on another swing through your incredible gallery... Mr. Sakai can sure craft an image, can’t he? I have always loved Usagi, but the art from this “era” may be my favorite... You could really tell how driven and inspired he was to build up to and tell this story; every facet of the art - the characters, the clothing, the rich backgrounds, the letters... It feels like Stan was sincerely and personally invested in every panel on every page. I love the thick outline of Usagi here and the fine details on the clothing. What a dream piece! Congrats again

I don't know if I can say I prefer some one period of Stan's art more than another. Although his style certainly has changed over time, IMO he consistantly delivers. But it is nice to see OA from different periods. This is certainly a top example from his early Dark Horse work. I love the portraits of so many important characters. Congrats.
