DescriptionSo Megaton Man is a superhero and as such it's kind of odd to put in the Non-Superhero gallery, but at the same time it is/was an Indy creation and this felt like the right gallery for it. If you made it far enough to read this - you are likely one of the few folks on CAF that remembers this series or if not, maybe just wondering 'What the?!"As a kid I remember going on small trips on weekends with my parents and on one of these, stumbling into a comic shop where little me discovered Megaton Man for the first time. I was really impressed with the exaggerated anatomy and bright colors. With piles of muscles like no other this comic really stood out. The silly expressions and humor also left a mark. I had been looking for a Megaton Man cover ever since seeing the Megaton Man/Savage Dragon cover on Moy's site a couple years back. As such, it was a pleasant surprise to find his creator right here on CAF. And after all these years, still holding art even! Feel free to reach out to him if you happen to share any nostalgia for this amazing series. I love the drawing on this cover, including the 'thick' inking style and all the little details. If you look closely in the background, you will spot a wall crawler making an un-authorized appearance. Yah- its kind of obvious on the original - but no so much on the color version where the dark sky makes it a real where's Waldo. Thanks for visiting! Social/Sharing |

Blast from the past. Now if I could only find some of Don Simpson's Border Worlds artwork.

I collected this series from start to finish as it came out. One of my favourite independent comics back then. Classic cover!

Look at this post you have
Every time I do, it makes me laugh
Now you visit a childhood friend
And what the hell is in Groo Fan's head?
And this is a great pick me up
I dig Don Simpson covers on rooftops
I forever knew since I was a bean sprout
The second floor in art's for making out
And this is where Megaton rules
Most romance time had Spidey things to do
Web browser record says I clicked in twice
I must have saw it half a dozen times
I wonder if it's too late
Should I go back and try to buy again?
Life's better now than it was back then
If I was Moy, I wouldn't let me in
Oh, whoa, whoa
Oh, God, I...
Every memory of looking at the browser
I had the comic artwork spread out and I look for more
Not hard to say it, time to say it
Don't buy, don't buy
Every memory of walking out the front door
I found Don Simpson on the CAF that I was looking for
Not hard to say it, time to say it
Good buy, Good buy
Good Buy

I so remember this! One of my favorite Megaton Man covers, with a great image of the muscle-bound hero, a sexy superheroes, Spidey in the background, silly expressions, and a Kirbyesque collaged moon on the background.

WOOOO! Megaton Man! Yeah, I remember that guy. What a great indy satire title. Exaggerated figures...further exaggerated! Man, it's so cool that he's here, too. Gonna have to check out his stuff. Excellent cover, too! One of my very favorites from the run. Great score. Congrats!

Superhero comic books were becoming so serious that it was great to have Don Simpson and Megaton Man to poke fun at the absurdity of it all.
