DescriptionI posted this one on Facebook and asked the group to guess who drew it - was fun to see all the responses - a few folk got it right but not many.https://www.facebook.com/groups/originalcomicartcollectors/permalink/1994036180994350/ This was an unexpected acquisition from California Comic Con in Orange County where I headed to meet a fellow CAFer to pick up the Swamp Thing 9 p3 Prelim. I'm glad I went as I imagine this Everett would have gone to someone else. This was one of four small pin-ups from a find although I only saw one other - it was more obviously Everett but a bit too 'blue' - although I should have bought it too! For me, the obvious Everett is the pants inking and the feet. I reorganized a few pieces to form this gallery, so I'd have a good place to put this one! Social/Sharing |

Gorgeous linework all over, especially on the pants and hair.

This is fantastic Mark! I'm not sure that I would have guessed correctly either, but wow that's clearly Everett inking when you study it. If only he would have put wings on her ankles ;)

Well, I talked to Mayor Grimble the other day and he declared
These pants the yellowest in the land!

This is such a compelling drawing, from the care in the inking, to the tremendous attention to detail and the subtle graphite shading. And what exactly is she resting on? A Henry Moore sculpture?

Super illustration. Everett is my favorite inker and here he is flexing those skills.

Hubba, hubba...Did I say that out loud? Or merely think it? ...I just wrote it. Thats a relief. Mark won't notice. I don't think he reads the comments. Or does he? Lol.

Hello Peter,
I obsess over comments with each morsel of praise placed on the art I watch over making me feel it is worth putting up with much of the rest of humanity that is scarier each year!

Wow! Now that's not what I expect to see when I run across the name Bill Everett! But what a beautiful drawing by one of the best comic artists ever! You're right when you say you can see Everett's style in the inking of the pants and the feet. It must have been fun to discover something so unexpected from someone who's work you know so well. Or thought you did. ;-) Anyway, great pick-up, congrats!

This art is so great... thanks for sharing it. It's wonderful that this art has survived the decades, is in safe hands for another generation, and that we can still discover previously unknown work by Bill Everett, so many years after his untimely passing. Congrats on a truly delightful piece by The Great Man!
