(or the alternate title I've given this one: "Red on the Head and 'Fire in the Hole!'")

I have a small handful of the gouache illustrations Earl Norem did for the various men's adventure magazines published by Marvel precursor Magazine Management Co. They are all grey-scale B&W pieces except for this one. It's technically what was considered a red duo-tone piece in the industry at the time (low budgets didn't allow for full color reproductions, so this was printed in red/brown tones).

I've always had a certain weakness for redheads, and had to have this piece as soon as I saw it. It was recycled for several different stories over the years, none of which really offered a good explanation as to why the gal in question had to strip down to her panties and bra before lighting the makeshift explosives, but I'm doubting any readers were complaining...
