DescriptionTim Sale was one of the few artists with a very distinctive art style during the 90's (and still is) in a time when almost every new comic artist was drawing like Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld or Joe Madureira. I wasn't reading any comics that he was drawing back then, probably because I wasn't reading anything from DC, but once in a while I saw a nice piece of art drawn by him popping up in an advertisment or as pin up. Due to the widespread critical acclaim that Batman: The Long Halloween received and the fact that Tim Sale was the artist on that series, I decided to read a DC comic for the first time in my life. As a Marvel, Spider-Man and X-Men fan, Batman: The Long Halloween became one of my favorite comic story that I have ever read.Together with Jeph Loeb, Tim has made many great stories after that including the emotional Superman: For All Seasons and classic Spider-Man: Blue. The setting of the stories made by them fit Tim's style perfectly. He was also a master in emotional moments and quiet scenes, playing with shadows and negative space. Unfortunately I never had a chance to meet him in person, but I cherish the many great comics that he made and the few published original art pages that I have in my personal collection. This page is not an action scene or a fancy splash from Spider-Man: Blue, but has everything of what I like about the art of Tim. I heard about the passing of Tim Sale during my vacation. When I got home, this page that I have bought awhile ago, was finally delivered to me. Coincidence or maybe else, who knows. Social/Sharing |

MJ's powers on full display here. She can make a super hero and the audience melt and feel so alone with the simplest of gestures. All wonderfully told in a well designed page by Tim Sale.

I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't read the Loeb/Sale color books, but this is a great example of Tim's ability to deliver those quiet emotional moments (especially love that second panel with Peter's eyes looking up).

No need to be embarrassed! These stories by Sale and Loeb are timeless, so you can read them whenever you want:).

Gorgeous Tim Sale page! He was a true modern master of the comic art medium. He will be missed. Fortunately, we still have pieces like this one to remember him by. No artist could wish for more.

Really great page, congrats! I also like non-action page, subtle moments like this. I really hope to be lucky and get my hands on a SP Blue one day!

Great but ironically sad story. Tim's clean style was so apparent...love his early ASM PP look.
