DescriptionI'm a long time fan of Jaime Hernandez's art and I've been patiently waiting to find a piece from Xaime that was music related or had guitars in it. The Love and Rockets pages with instruments hardly come up and Xaime's art has a strong following of collectors going after them.I have to thank Duke Fleed for graciously sharing the information that led me to this piece at the end of 2023. And thank you to Carsten at Galerie Laqua. As someone who has played in several bands over the years I can totally connect to this piece seeing the bassist and drummer argue while the guitarist sits frustrated, questioning their life choices while fantasizing about what their life could have been. Big thanks to Mark Vega for discovering this art was used for ASCAP's Annual SXSW (South by South West) Showcase at The Steamboat on March 17th, 1995. The event featured The Stuntman, Sardina, Vitreous Humor, Presidents of the United States of America (POTUSA), The Refreshments, and Lustre. From what I've read online this was the showcase that got POTUSA signed to Sony/Columbia and that also got The Refreshments signed to Mercury Records! I created a restored copy of the original poster using a low res image I found online, which you can check out in the additional images section. Presidents of the United States of America (POTUSA) music video from later that year after they got signed: Social/Sharing |

Jaime's illos tell a full story and this one has a polished finish even though they are a grungy alt band.

Congrats, George. One of the best to ever do it when it comes to depicting musicians.

This is a great piece and a wonderful example of how effective of an illustrator Hernandez is. The overall idea comes across perfectly. It is even present in small details like body language and the knocked over cymbal.

Yes, an excellent piece of music themed art for which I'm sure anyone who has ever been in a band can relate to!
